Q: Can you tell me the arrival and departure days for the cottages for seven night bookings?
A: Riverside Cottage, The Gate Lodge, The Old Post Office and Seaview Cottage let from a Friday. The Steadings, Curlew Cottage, Pier Cottage, Elastic Cottage and The Old School are from a Saturday.
Q: What time can we arrive and when should we depart?
A: Arrival is after 4pm and departure is before 10am.
Q: Are dogs allowed in the properties?
A: Yes. Up to two dogs are allowed in each property, they are charged £24 each. They are only allowed in the kitchen and living area. Should your pet cause any damage, please notify us. There will be charges to rectify damage incurred. Please bring your own bedding and bowls for your dogs.
Q: Can we purchase firewood?
A: Yes. We prepare bags of logs that also include kindling that can be purchased at any time for £10. All properties have a fire, except for The Steadings.
Q: Can you provide travel cots and highchairs?
A: Yes.
Q: What is provided in the properties?
A: Bedrooms: All beds are made up with soft cotton sheets and towels are provided.
Bathrooms: Initial supply of toilet roll, hand towels, bath mats and nonslip bath mats
Kitchen: Salt and pepper. Washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets (for properties that have one), dish clothes, bin bags and tea towels
Q Are the kitchens well equipped?
A: Kitchens are well equipped with various pots, pans, crockery, cutlery, glasses, knives and utensils. Should you find something missing in the cottage when you arrive, please speak to us as we usually have spares in our store cupboard.
Q: Will someone meet us when we arrive?
A: We operate a contactless check-in experience at Kingairloch. Should you require assistance at any point during your stay please don’t hesitate to use the contact details in the guest manual available within each property to get in touch with us.
We would be delighted to hear from you and happy to assist you in any way that we can to help make your stay a most comfortable one. Detailed operating instructions such as for the TV and heating can all be found within the properties.
Q: Where are the nearest shops?
– Fort William (25 miles (1 hr – 1.5 hr) drive including the Corran Ferry) there is a large Morrisions, Lidl and M&S.
– Strontian (13 miles (30 min) drive, on our side of the ferry) there is a local post office, fuel pumps, and a larger Keystore.
– Lochaline (16 miles (30min) drive, on our side of the ferry) there is a local village shop
Q: Do any supermarkets deliver?
A: Morrisons in Fort William provide delivery. Please be aware as delivery slots are limited, you must book your delivery slot in advance. Alternatively, you can also do a click and collect shop at Morrisons in Fort William.
Q: Can we purchase produce from the estate?
A: Yes. In the cottages will be information about what is available from the estate.
Q: Where is the nearest doctor/hospital?
A: Doctor Surgeries are in Lochaline and Acharcle. There is a hospital with A&E in Fort William.
Q: What are the midges like?
A: As Kingairloch is coastal; we are fortunate in often having a gentle breeze blowing all the time. This helps to keep the midges at bay. However, we do have them and they are generally about from June-September. To discourage them, in the evenings do not leave windows open with the lights on. The best repellant is Smidge. We would also recommend packing a midge hood.
Q: What is mobile signal like and do you have wifi?
A: We now have an EE mast on the estate, so we now have a very good 4G EE signal. All cottages have EE Wi-Fi.
Q: What can we do once we get to Kingairloch?
A: Lots! We have 7Km of footpath/cycle paths. For a memorable evening, you can hire our Finnish BBQ and toast marshmallows until your belly is full. Detailed information about activities on the estate and throughout the local area is available on our website.
Q: Do we need to pack anything in particular to make the most of our stay?
A: Here are a few top suggestions: good outdoor clothing and footwear, binoculars, a note pad, camera, good books and a map of the area. A road map is very useful, just incase mobile signal is down when you are out and about and you’re not sure of the best way back to the estate.
