The rut has begun!
Recently there has been a slight freshness in the mornings, however not quite cold enough for Jack the Frost. The Autumnal colours are also appearing everywhere; leaves are falling off the trees and the hills are turning a reddish-brown colour.
This weekend saw the first signs that stags were beginning to rut. Instead of seeing them in large groups on the hillside, they were beginning to break off in search of hinds, plus the unmistakeable roars could be heard in the backs of far away glens.
However with the forecasters predicting a late Indian Summer, who knows how the rut will take shape?!
