Improvements to Kingairloch House’s Garden
Work has begun in the last couple of weeks to remodel the bottom garden at Kingairloch House. Formerly this garden was a showcase of grandeur that had all the ingredients of a traditional Victorian pleasure ground. There even used to be a tennis court that overlooked Loch a’Choire, certainly a different view from serving at Centre Court Wimbledon!!
Over the past 100 years, the garden has slightly “gone native” with the tennis court becoming home for a rather large rhododendron and fir tree. Many of the views were also lost due to scrub growth.
However, all is not lost….Since the work began a great deal of scrub, rhododendrons and dead trees have been removed resulting in views of Loch a’Choire and the mountains opening up. Specimen trees have also been given more space to grow and the glorious gunnera and bamboo are flourishing. Plans are underway to create paths through the garden allowing guests once again to enjoy the garden.
